Where Steel Excels

Thanks to their high hardness, wear-resistant steels are unrivalled in applications with intense abrasive contact, such as rubble, excavation spoil and mining loads. High yield strength delivers the same strength with a thinner section, offering a significant weight saving over conventional structural steel. The widespread availability of welding and repair infrastructure also reassures fleet operators.

Where Aluminium Excels

With its low density, aluminium is the standard for tanker and silo trailer bodies where absolute lightness is sought; its corrosion resistance allows it to be used unpainted, and its scrap value is high. On the other hand, its low modulus of elasticity makes deflection control more critical than with steel, and its fatigue behaviour makes joint detail design more demanding.
